
RTSR
A speed-oriented base builder and tower defense, centered on distilling the economy ramp of RTS games down to a bite-sized format for rapid-fire missions.
With a small team of two developers, we took the initial design from early prototypes to a more polished vertical slice. While not taken forward into full development, we ended up with a demo-able build that showcased the core gameplay features, and were able to pitch and discuss with publishers at GCAP!
As a hybridization of several genres, RTSR was a tricky game to design and develop, requiring a lot of custom systems and novel design approaches: from flow-fields to custom faked lighting. It posed some unique (and fun!) challenges throughout development, and the unique design space it occupied made for interesting exploration!
